Soccer

Soccer is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, on a rectangular field known as a pitch. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, which is positioned at either end of the field. It is played primarily with feet, although players may use any part of their bodies except their hands and arms to control the ball, with the exception of the goalkeeper, who can use their hands within a designated area known as the penalty box. Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is known for its global popularity, with millions of players and fans worldwide, and is overseen internationally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Soccer is often referred to as football in many countries outside of North America, where the term “football” may refer to a different sport.
